KKTM Kuantan was planned under the 7th Malaysia Plan and the development started since 23rd September 2003. The construction period was five years and this college started its operation in May 2008. The land area is 100 acres with the first phase of the construction was 75 acres and involving the construction cost of RM 58,257,418.98 (contract cost). KKTM Kuantan is the first KKTM that offers Diploma in Advance Manufacturing Engineering programmes and the fourth KKTM developed by MARA. The first staff to start duty in KKTM Kuantan on 9th May 2008 was En Hambali Bin Ahmad who is also the Director of KKTM Kuantan and followed by 18 Vocational Training Officers (J41) on 12th May 2008. The first enrolment of 53 students registered on 14 July 2008 undertaking five different courses offered.
